Overview
Long Island is a small, car-free island for travellers who want the Andamans slow and unpolished, with no crowds and almost no traffic beyond a jetty, a small village, and a couple of lovely beaches. Visitors here often have long stretches of sand entirely to themselves.
It sits off the coast near Rangat and is reached only by ferry, a slower approach that is very much part of the appeal rather than an inconvenience to work around. Lalaji Bay Beach is reachable by a short boat ride or a walk through forest, while nearby Merk Bay is regularly rated among the finest white-sand beaches in the entire archipelago. Accommodation stays limited to a handful of low-key, natural stays, suited to travellers who genuinely want to do very little for a few unhurried days here, away from the busier main islands nearby.
